Conjunctivitis is a highly contagious eye disease that has been witnessing an increase in cases of late. Keeping the health and wellbeing of its workforce and their families in mind, BALCO undertook the eye checkup camp to help mitigate the spread of the illness and also promote wider awareness of preventive measures against it. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with approximately 400 employees and business partners coming forward to avail themselves of the eyecare services.
Speaking on the importance of such healthcare initiatives, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO said, “BALCO consistently prioritizes the health of its employees and is committed to promoting a work culture focused on their total wellbeing. The recent eye checkup camp, which could prove instrumental in enabling our workers and their families to protect themselves against the illness, is a testament to our unwavering commitment to preserving their valuable health. By proactively addressing potential health issues and spreading awareness, we strive to create a safe and thriving environment for our workforce.”
BALCO has been actively involved in various social welfare projects aimed at enhancing healthcare facilities for the communities in the vicinity of its operations. Notably, the company has been operating a Mobile Health Van (MHV) in association with Help Age India, providing doorstep healthcare services to approximately 45 communities in the vicinity. This initiative has significantly benefited around 15,000 residents since commencing its activities. Another commendable effort by BALCO is the establishment of the Rural Health Post, which caters to the healthcare needs of approximately 3,000 residents annually. The facility has been instrumental in providing top-notch healthcare services to the rural population residing in remote, less accessible locations, helping elevate their quality of life.
These proactive measures in promoting employee wellbeing and community health have helped garner wide recognition for BALCO. Recently, the company was honored with the prestigious Arogya World Award in the ‘Healthy Workplaces Awards – 2022’ category. The award serves as a testament to BALCO’s unwavering commitment to employee health and wellbeing, deeply ingrained in a culture of care and concern.
