Making Healthcare Services Affordable and Accessible

The project is a comprehensive health initiative providing quality Primary health care services, both preventive and curative through Rural Health Posts, Maternal & Child Health with special focus on reduction of malnourishment & anaemia, awareness campaigns on HIV, TB and De-addiction. Our comprehensive health programs aim to provide accessible healthcare and improve the overall health status of rural communities. During the year, program reached out to over 93,000 people through curative and preventive healthcare services.

Our three Rural Health Posts offer essential OPD services, treatment, and general testing to the neighbouring communities, benefitting over 4700 people.

Maternal and Child Health, our efforts to reduce malnourishment among children include identifying and intervening in cases of malnutrition. We have provided targeted interventions, including Positive Deviance (PD) hearth sessions and referrals to Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs). Additionally, we have trained mothers on nutritious recipes from Take Home Ration (THR) and developed nutrition gardens at Anganwadi centres and in households for an overall impact. In FY’26 over 5000 mothers participated & learned caregiving practices and addressed over 900 identified malnourished children through our varied interventions. As a result, a significant number of children have moved out of the malnourished category.

Anaemia Reduction, addressing anaemia in pregnant and lactating mothers is a critical component of our health initiatives. Through anaemia screenings and focused reduction camps, we educated pregnant & lactating mothers on iron-rich diets and the importance of IFA consumption. Follow-up home visits ensure sustained improvements, leading to healthier pregnancies and births. Our ‘Nava Pahuna Goth’ initiative also provides family counselling for newly married couples, emphasizing family planning and pre-pregnancy care.

HIV and TB Awareness, we have undertaken extensive awareness campaigns for HIV and TB. Our HIV awareness activities include canopy camps, counselling sessions, and mass awareness campaigns, training youth as changemakers leading ‘Yuva Chaupals’ for grassroot awareness, held awareness sessions in Government high & higher secondary schools in Korba block, to promote peer-based learnings. During the year through our varied activities, we generated awareness to over 35000 people across communities. We have capacitated 97 frontline workers from local health bodies to educate the community on TB identification and treatment, Mass Awareness campaign & sessions further raised awareness to over 27000 community members. Through the Nikshay Mitra initiative, we supported the diet of 17 TB patients across neighbouring villages, significantly aiding their recovery.

Deaddiction Efforts, our deaddiction camps have sensitized over 5000 youth in schools and communities about the dangers of drug addiction. We have formed 27 action groups comprising local health bodies and self-help groups to work towards building addiction-free communities.

For Sustained health outcomes revived & capacitated, local health bodies like Mahila Arogya Samiti & Village Health, Sanitation & Nutrition Committee covering over 600 PRI members & local health workers.

Nayi Kiran

Menstrual Health Management

This initiative is being implemented in partnership with Sarthak Jan Vikas Sansthan (SJVS).

Menstrual health remains one of the most stigmatized and overlooked topics in our society, yet addressing it is essential for improving women’s overall health and empowerment. Project Nayi Kiran is dedicated to breaking myths and taboos surrounding menstruation, promoting sustainable hygiene practices, and raising awareness about menstrual health management (MHM) options. The initiative also focuses on creating MHM-friendly environments in schools and communities, ensuring safe reproductive health for all.

During FY’25, the project reached over 70,000 individuals, including women, men, and adolescents through awareness campaigns and capacity-building activities. The project successfully expanded its reach across all five blocks of Korba district.

To promote an MHM-friendly environment in schools, we conducted sessions on menstrual health management in 106 government middle, secondary, and higher secondary schools in Korba district. This initiative sensitized over 18,000 adolescents. Additionally, over 70 teachers were trained as ‘MHM Sathis’ to create a supportive and informed atmosphere in schools.

We organized specialized MHM sessions and workshops for over 100 specially-abled adolescents and caregivers. We also developed Braille and Terracotta modules to ensure accessibility and foster sustained learning. In a groundbreaking initiative, we held the first-ever reusable cloth pad stitching workshop with specially-abled participants, offering safe menstrual health management alternatives, reducing dependency, and fostering inclusivity.

To provide sustainable and affordable menstrual hygiene solutions, we focused on raising awareness about informed choices and environmentally friendly alternatives such as reusable cloth pads. Through the ‘Stitch My Own Pad Campaign’, we trained over 3,900 women, adolescent girls, teachers, and health workers on the benefits and hygienic use of reusable cloth pads. Furthermore, we trained over 1,300 boys to promote an inclusive and supportive environment for menstrual health.

Promoting community cleanliness and sanitation is key to fostering an overall healthy environment. We organized Cleanliness Drives (Safai Mahotsav) in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation Department, engaging over 5,000 participants, including adolescent girls, boys, women, teachers, Panchayat members, and local residents. These drives focused on sustainable waste management and encouraged community ownership of cleanliness initiatives.

To ensure lasting impact, we trained over 200 frontline workers (Anganwadi workers and ASHAs) as Master Trainers, empowering them as leaders of change in their communities. These trained workers then reached out to over 5,000 adolescent girls and women, driving positive behavioral change at the grassroots level.
