Moments of Youth Engagement and Team Spirit
This year, to support local sports initiatives, BALCO distributed sports kits, including equipment for cricket, badminton, hockey, football, volleyball, and basketball, across 20 communities for youth and sports groups. This initiative sparked enthusiasm in several communities, leading to the formation of sports committees. These committees are now responsible for managing and utilizing the kits, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility. By providing the necessary resources and empowering local communities with self-governance, we have ignited the sporting spirit, helping communities nurture talent and instil the values of sportsmanship.
BALCO Archery Program- Lakshya Ved
During the year initiated, BALCO Archery initiative dedicated to archery promotion, aiming to identify and nurture young sporting talent. Conducted archery scouting camps across 29 schools, with over 1200 students participating, 288 students qualified for advanced trials further leading to a selection of top 70 youth for the dedicated training.
Kosa Silk Promotion
New Initiative Art & Culture initiative on Kosa Silk Promotion was undertaken, a livelihood value chain initiative to promote Kosa silk through skill upgradation, market linkage, and brand building. Established a Kosa Weaving Training Centre at Dhangaon, training 20 women weavers in advance Kosa silk weaving, and introduced the ‘KosaKari’ brand and digital platform, www.kosakari.com to enhance visibility, market access, and sustainable incomes for Kosa artisans.
