BALCO Transforms the Workplace with Mental Health Awareness
25th October 2025

Balconagar, 25th October 2025: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, reaffirmed its commitment to holistic employee wellbeing through a series of focused mental health awareness and counselling initiatives. Designed to enhance mental resilience, emotional balance, and overall quality of life at the workplace, the programme engaged more than 150 employees through interactive sessions and expert-led workshops.
In collaboration with its wellness partner YourDOST, BALCO hosted an array of interactive activities like a Mind Gym Quiz, a 60-second quiz aimed at sharpening focus and promoting mental agility. Additionally, senior psychologist Dr. Ankita Singh conducted workshops focused on recognizing early signs of stress and balancing personal and professional challenges, equipping participants with practical tools to manage mental wellbeing before it reaches a critical point.
To provide personalized support, BALCO also facilitated one-on-one counselling sessions, creating a safe and confidential space for employees to seek professional guidance. With a solution-oriented approach, these sessions helped individuals identify core concerns while reinforcing the importance of being heard and supported, which in turn demonstrated the company’s commitment to fostering a workplace where mental health is prioritized.
Highlighting the importance of a positive workspace, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO, said, “Progress begins with people, and in today’s fast paced world emotional well-being is essential for individuals to thrive. Mental health is a shared responsibility, and every individual deserves to feel supported, valued and free to seek help without fear or stigma. We envision creating a space where communities are open, conversations are honest, and every person feels heard for them to thrive.”
Sharing her experience, Ms. Sovini Kher reflected, “No one talks about the early signs, the quiet shifts in mood, energy, or focus that signal something is not right. This workshop helped me recognize those subtle indicators and equipped me with tools to respond before things spiral.”
To ensure the physical and mental well-being of its employees and business partners, BALCO has consistently focused on enhancing the quality of life. The company actively promotes physical fitness and team spirit through events like the BALCO Premier League for cricket, badminton tournament, and Volleyball Premier League. Additionally, to foster cultural inclusivity, BALCO celebrates festivals throughout the year encouraging collective joy and bonding. Through these initiatives the company prioritizes holistic well-being by building an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and cared for.
