Marked in commemoration of World Malaria Day, the initiative aligns with this year’s global theme, “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.” The drive focused on early detection, myth-busting, behavioural change, and on-ground medical support in malaria-prone rural regions.
Over the years, Project Arogya has strengthened last-mile healthcare delivery for over 1.4 lakh people by combining awareness with direct intervention. Through door-to-door outreach, community sessions, and medical camps, residents are being trained to recognise early symptoms of malaria such as fever, chills, and excessive sweating, encouraging timely diagnosis and treatment, while dispelling misconceptions around the disease.
Talking about the initiative, Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO, BALCO, said, “Sustainable nation-building begins with healthy and empowered communities. Through Project Arogya, we are strengthening public health in remote regions by focusing on prevention, early intervention, and active community participation. By improving access to healthcare and building long-term awareness, we aim to enhance individual well-being while contributing to stronger, more resilient communities.”
The initiative reinforces preventive practices such as the consistent use of mosquito nets and the elimination of stagnant water to reduce transmission at the source. At the same time, it maintains a strong focus on vulnerable groups, particularly children under five and expecting mothers. Targeted support through preventive tools and essential health supplements is complemented by free on-site diagnostic and treatment services, improving access to care in underserved areas.
BALCO has deployed Mobile Health Units to deliver essential medical services directly to remote villages, ensuring doorstep access to healthcare for over 25,000 people in FY’26 alone. These efforts are strengthened through focused initiatives in maternal and child healthcare, nutrition awareness, preventive health screenings, and sustained community health engagement. Together, these reflect BALCO’s integrated approach to strengthening rural healthcare systems and its commitment to transforming communities.
