BALCO celebrated 73rd Republic Day with fervour

28th January 2022

Balconagar, January 28, 2022: Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer, celebrated 73rd Republic Day with great verve and fervour at Aluminium Bhavan. Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO and Director, BALCO initiated the celebration by unfurling the National Flag which was followed by National Anthem permeating the spirit of patriotism in the atmosphere.

Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO and Director, BALCO addressed the members of BALCO family regarding the vision of growth and excellence of the organization and about the contribution of BALCO towards building a ‘self-reliant’ India. He also reiterated all the important benchmarks achieved by BALCO and urged everyone to be an active participant in the growth journey.

Addressing the audience, Mr. Pati, said, “Let us all pledge to build a socially, economically and scientifically developed nation and become a role model of holistic growth in the world. BALCO’s products are hailed as best quality products worldwide and we should prepare ourselves to fulfill the market demand of Aluminium which is anticipated to get doubled by the year 2025. BALCO stands true to its ethos of Zero Harm, Zero Waste & Zero Discharge, which underpins all that we do. BALCO has been supplied fly-ash to the cement manufacturing industry for the first time. BALCO has also signed an MoU with VNIT Nagpur for the use of green concrete in making roads in the vicinity.

BALCO has made significant strides in the field of efficient energy consumption. BALCO’s specific power consumption is lowest in the country. At over 2.8 million certificates, BALCO is India’s largest REC buyer also has topped the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Cycle-II among the Indian Aluminium Industry. Through all these endeavors, BALCO is committed to promote green energy and to reduce the carbon footprints in operational procedures.

BALCO’s employees and business partners have showed exemplary resilience during the challenging times of pandemic by continuing the business operations. In an attempt to help the community members with the protective shield of vaccine, BALCO organized mega vaccination camps for both the adults and the adolescents. BALCO’s flagship projects like Project Nayi Kiran, Project Arogya, Project Mor Jal Mor Maati, Project Connect, Vedanta Skill School are providing benefits to the community members in the region to a great extent.

The event also included felicitation ceremony of meritorious students from class X and XII belonging to different schools of Balconagar. Toppers from Class X were felicitated with gold medals and cash prize of worth Rs 10000 and meritorious students from Class XII were acclaimed with gold medals and laptops. An entertaining dog show was also presented by security department.

The event was attended by a large number of BALCO’s senior management, employees and business partners with great enthusiasm. Mr. Subhadeep Khan, Dy CHRO concluded the event with a thanks giving note.
