BALCO Celebrates India’s 78th Independence Day with a Vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’

Balconagar, 16th August 2024: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a part of Vedanta Aluminium, proudly celebrated the nation’s 78th Independence Day with a series of grand events involving employees and business partners within the plant premises.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO, followed by the singing of the national anthem. In his inspiring address to the audience, he highlighted BALCO’s commitment to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Speaking about BALCO’s contribution to India’s growth story, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director, BALCO, said, “As we celebrate the 78th Independence Day, BALCO continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future. Our journey of over five decades has been marked by milestones that reflect our commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth. Our growth journey towards 1 MTPA aluminium production capacity is not just a testament to our capabilities, but also our dedication to contributing to a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ By harnessing operational excellence and innovation, fostering community development, and driving environmental stewardship, we are not only strengthening the aluminium industry but also reinforcing India’s position as a global leader in manufacturing. Together, we are building a self-reliant, prosperous nation for future generations.”

The event also featured a special Independence Day video, showcasing BALCO’s alignment with the ‘Viksit Bharat’ theme, illustrating how the company is a key supporter and enabler of this vision. The video captured the essence of BALCO’s commitment to nation-building through its business practices and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the region. In a continued tradition of community engagement, Mr. Kumar visited BALCO Hospital, where he distributed fresh fruit baskets to patients and personally enquired about their well-being.

In line with the Government of India’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign which invites every Indian to bring the Tiranga into their homes and proudly hoist it in celebration of the nation’s independence. BALCO employees also enthusiastically participated in this initiative showcasing their patriotic spirit and dedication to the nation.

BALCO’s Independence Day celebration was a vivid display of the company’s dedication to the principles of democracy and national development, with a renewed commitment to contributing to India’s journey towards a ‘Viksit Bharat.’
