BALCO Celebrates India’s 75th Republic Day, Echoing Unity, Pride, and Patriotism

Balconagar; January 27, 2024: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a subsidiary of Vedanta Aluminium, organized a grand celebration of India’s 75th Republic Day at the BALCO stadium in Korba, Chhattisgarh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 5000 people who collectively displayed unity, pride, and patriotism for the nation through several engaging demonstrations and vibrant performances.
The event featured a plethora of activities with the participation of BALCO’s security teams and communities, including a solemn march past. Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director of BALCO, commenced the proceedings with the unfurling of the national flag and playing of the national anthem. He also paid respect to the guard of honor and acknowledged the salute of the security team during their spirited march past. Tri-colored balloons were also released into the air on the occasion, symbolizing continued peace and freedom for India.
The audience witnessed an engaging demonstration from BALCO’s security teams, providing a vivid glimpse of their extensive capabilities in terms of ensuring plant safety and security.
The participants were also treated to vibrant cultural performances from over 1700 students across 15 schools in BALCO’s vicinity, celebrating the rich culture and diversity of the nation. These included several dance performances and cultural presentations.
In a joint celebration with its communities, BALCO presented captivating tableaux showcasing various parts of its operations, including potlines, power operations, cast houses, logistics, and CSR functions. These intricately designed floats were included in the parade, not only reflecting the diverse facets of BALCO’s operations but also representing its commitment to empowering communities.
Emphasizing BALCO’s dedication to the nation’s progress, Mr. Kumar, stated, “At BALCO, we are committed to adding to India’s industrial prowess, while also integrating environmental stewardship and equitable community development within our journey of shared growth and development. We are also greatly invested in strong relationships with our communities and partners, working together to make our nation a true global manufacturing powerhouse.”
The festivities concluded with the felicitation of student toppers of Class 10th and 12th exams from the participating schools and awards for the winning parade presentations and tableaux. Special recognition was given to the members of BALCO’s Dog Squad for their energetic demonstration of security protocols, highlighting its crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
Following the Republic Day festivities, Mr. Kumar also visited the BALCO Hospital in Korba, where he distributed nutritious fruits among several patients. His visit represented the company’s deep commitment to the community and emphasized the importance of ensuring good health and overall well-being for the nation’s development.
