BALCO Commemorates National Safety Week with Safety Awareness Initiatives

25th March 2025

Balconagar; March 25, 2025: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, observed the 54th National Safety Week by organising a series of awareness initiatives aimed at fostering a strong culture of safety among employees, business partners, and the community. Aligning with this year’s theme, “Safety and Well-being: Crucial for Viksit Bharat” BALCO conducted a week-long campaign featuring a safety rally, awareness sessions, a marathon, and engaging skits to reinforce safety-conscious behaviour across all levels.

Further extending its commitment to holistic well-being, BALCO organized a health and eye check-up camp for drivers and machine operators, ensuring comprehensive medical assessments. An exclusive interactive session was conducted with Mrs. Disha Shukla, Factory Inspector (Korba), who imparted life-saving skills on fire safety, risk awareness, and emergency preparedness to the Ladies Club of BALCO. In assddition, the company identified the ‘Best Safety Zone’ within its plant through rigorous auditing, promoting best practices among departments. A safety quiz for employees, along with slogan and drawing competitions involving local schools, further enhanced participation and awareness.

Speaking of safety, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO, stated, “At BALCO, safety is not just a protocol but a fundamental value that defines our operational excellence. Our vision of ‘Zero Harm’ ensures that safety and well-being remain at the core of our workplace and community. Through sustained efforts and innovative safety interventions, we aim to embed a culture where safety becomes second nature. A safe workplace contributes to a resilient workforce, ultimately strengthening the foundation of a developed and progressive nation.”

BALCO has remained steadfast in its commitment to enhancing safety awareness among local communities and families through various training initiatives. These include fire safety workshops, road safety programs, and the installation of retro-reflective safety signboards to improve visibility to avoid potential mishaps. Recognising its dedication to workplace and community safety, BALCO has been honoured with the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for 2025 and the Best Fire Safety Management Award from Grow Care India. These accolades are a testament to BALCO’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety excellence.
