BALCO Inaugurates Safety Park, Engages 5,000+ stakeholders in Safety Awareness Drive
13th April 2026

Balconagar, 13th April 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, has inaugurated a Safety Park at its operations, reinforcing its deep-rooted commitment to building strong, safety-first culture across the workforce. The Safety Park features interactive models, experiential modules, and visual installations that demonstrate the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), enabling practical and hands-on understanding of safe operational practices.
Aligned with the Safety Month theme “Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety,” the initiative reached and engaged more than 5,000 employees, business partners, community members, and students. The campaign was notably led by women employees, reflecting BALCO’s focus on inclusive leadership and empowering women as key drivers of safety excellence across operations.
With a strong focus on enhancing awareness and encouraging behavioural change, a wide range of interactive activities were conducted to strengthen safety consciousness among the workforce. These included drawing and slogan competitions, safety quizzes, and the ‘Kaun Banega Safety Champion’ contest, which encouraged participants to think critically about safety and test their knowledge of workplace safety protocols.
Gamified activities such as Snake & Ladder and Hazard Hunt further reinforced safety awareness through engaging formats. The campaign also recognised outstanding performers and teams across operations through initiatives such as Best Safety Performers and ‘Family Connect with Safety Champions,’ celebrating individuals and teams demonstrating exemplary commitment to safety.
Speaking on the initiative, Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO, said, “At BALCO, safety is a deeply embedded value that guides every aspect of our operations. Through sustained engagement and continuous awareness, we aim to build a strong culture where every individual takes ownership of safety. Initiatives such as National Safety Month help strengthen behavioural change and reinforce our commitment to making BALCO and its surrounding ecosystem a safe and responsible environment for all.”
In addition, platforms such as ‘Voice of Safety’ and ‘Real-Life Hero Stories’ enabled employees and business partners to share insights, experiences, and suggestions, further embedding safety ownership across operations. The ‘Best Safety Zone Exhibition’ and health check-up camps further deepened engagement by showcasing safety innovations, best practices, and a focus on employee wellbeing across various sub-business units.
BALCO has remained steadfast in its commitment to enhancing safety awareness among local communities and families through various training initiatives. These include fire safety workshops, road safety programs, and the installation of retro-reflective safety signboards to improve visibility to avoid potential mishaps. Recognising its dedication to workplace and community safety, BALCO has been honoured with the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for 2026 and the Platinum Award for Excellence in Fire & Safety by Grow Care India. These accolades are a testament to BALCO’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety excellence.
