BALCO Reaffirms Commitment to a Safe, Smart, and Inclusive Workplace on Labour Day

Balconagar, 3^rd May 2025 – Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, marked Labour Day by reaffirming its commitment to building a workplace that is safe, smart, and inclusive. With more than 11,000 employees and business partners across its operations, BALCO continues to drive a culture where safety is of utmost priority, digitalisation shapes everyday work, and physical and mental well-being is actively supported.

At BALCO, safety is a shared responsibility grounded in discipline and accountability. Every individual who enters the plant adheres to stringent safety rules. Additionally, monthly plant-wide discussions on topics such as fire and road safety reinforce a strong safety culture  across teams. These engagements are supported by AI-powered monitoring systems and digital safety displays that identify risks and ensure safety compliance, strengthening BALCO’s long-term commitment to Zero Harm, a workplace where every individual returns home safely.

BALCO’s digital transformation endeavours support the people behind its operations, making work safer and more efficient. In critical areas like potlines, immersive AR/VR training has enabled employees to prepare for complex tasks in safe and controlled environments. Material movement and cast house functions now operate with greater visibility through real-time dashboards and automated tracking systems. From inventory processing to interlock protection, digital tools are helping teams respond faster and reduce routine strain.

Health and well-being at BALCO begin at the workplace, where preventive care is embedded into daily operations through regular screenings and health check-ups. The shopfloor employees and their families have access to BALCO’s 100-bed multispecialty hospital, offering advanced medical care across a wide range of specialisations.
