BALCO’s Malhar 4.0 celebrates creativity, heritage and beauty through the lens

11th August 2026

Balconagar, Aug 11, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited, a unit of Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, successfully concluded the fourth edition of its two-day photography exhibition, Malhar 4.0, at BALCO Township. The exhibition celebrated the creativity of the BALCO family, the beauty of Balconagar, the diversity of nature and the company’s heritage through the lens of its participants. The exhibition witnessed participation from over 2,000 viewers, including employees, their families and school students.

Malhar 4.0 featured more than 280 photographs across three themes, Megh Malhar, Barkha and Dhara. Through their photographs, participants captured the changing moods of the sky, monsoon, nature, earth and everyday life, offering distinct perspectives and stories through each frame.

The closing ceremony witnessed the felicitation of the winners by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO and Whole-Time Director, BALCO. Winners were selected by an expert jury across all three competition categories. This year, the exhibition also introduced the Viewer’s Choice category, enabling visitors to vote for their favourite photograph through a QR code.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Singh said, “The photographs showcased at Malhar reflect the creativity and diverse perspectives within the BALCO family. While technical proficiency is integral to our work, we also value the creativity, curiosity and imagination of our people. Malhar provides a platform to employees to express themselves and share how they see the world around them. We will continue to expand the platform, encourage wider participation and take these creative perspectives to larger audiences.”

For participants, Malhar has evolved into an annual platform to share their passion for photography. Mithila Pradhan, an employee and participant, shared, “I have been contributing photographs to Malhar for the past three years. With my friends participating this year as well, I found the experience particularly meaningful, especially seeing their photographs displayed alongside my own.”

A key highlight of the exhibition was a special collection showcasing BALCO’s heritage and evolution since its inception in 1965. The collection presented glimpses of the company’s journey through photographs, offering visitors an opportunity to revisit its history and milestones. The exhibition also featured a curated display of cameras tracing the evolution of photography, from classic cameras to contemporary digital devices, reflecting the transformation of technology and photographic expression over the years.

With its blend of photography, heritage and community participation, Malhar 4.0 emerged as a platform that brought together creativity, observation and diverse perspectives, celebrating the people and the environment that shape the BALCO community.
