Former BALCO Employees Revisit the Plant, Relive the Legacy of Progress
13th July 2026

Balconagar, July 13, 2026: For a group of former Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) employees, returning to the plant was far more than a visit. It was an opportunity to reconnect with a workplace that shaped their careers, revisit cherished memories, and witness how the organisation they helped build has evolved into one of India’s leading aluminium producers.
BALCO, a unit of Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, organised a special plant tour for its former employees as a gesture of gratitude for their enduring contribution to the company’s growth. The initiative reflected BALCO’s commitment to honouring those whose dedication laid the foundation for its continued progress.
During the visit, the former employees toured the smelter, cast house, power plant and other key operational units. Walking through the facilities where many had spent decades of their professional lives, they witnessed the transformation driven by advanced technologies, digitalisation, enhanced safety systems and significantly expanded production capacity. Representatives from the company also shared updates on BALCO’s recent milestones, ongoing expansion projects and future growth plans.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO & Whole-Time Director, BALCO, said, “Our employees are an intrinsic part of our company and have paved the way for BALCO’s success over these many decades. It was a privilege to welcome our former colleagues back and see them witness the growth of the company they helped build. Their contributions will always remain an integral part of BALCO’s legacy and continue to inspire us as we carry our journey forward with the same commitment.”
The visit was an emotional experience for many retired employees, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to return to their former workplace. They reflected on their years with the company, shared memories with fellow colleagues and took pride in witnessing BALCO’s remarkable transformation.
Former employee Mr. Raghuvar Prasad Patel recalled the company’s journey from producing one lakh tonnes of aluminium to progressing towards a one-million-tonne production capacity. He also appreciated the continued development of the township and the sustained efforts towards its upkeep and beautification.
Former employee Mr. Bansat Tiwari observed that the plant has become more organised and significantly safer over the years. He commended BALCO’s focus on safety and expressed hope that such plant visits for retired employees would continue in the future.
Sharing his reflections, former employee Mr. Sanat Kumar Sondhia compared BALCO’s journey to that of a banyan tree that has grown stronger with time, providing opportunities for successive generations. He appreciated the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in strengthening workplace safety and acknowledged the company’s continued commitment to creating a safe and progressive work environment.
The visit served as a bridge between BALCO’s proud legacy and its future ambitions. For the former employees who once contributed to building the company’s strong foundation, witnessing its modern facilities and expanding operations was a moment of immense pride.
BALCO continues to foster lasting relationships with both its current and former employees. Initiatives such as these celebrate the company’s heritage while creating meaningful opportunities for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and inspiration across generations.
